Click for larger images 1- Open a new document the size you would like you blend to be. I use 500x300px but any size would do really. Make sure that the Background Content is set to White.  2- Next select 2 similar pictures, and paste them both onto the document. Place the one on the first layer to the right and the one of the second layer to the left.  3- Next press x on your keyboard. It will reset the foreground colour to white and the background colour to black.Then select gradient on your toolbar by right clicking on the paint bucket and selecting gradient.  4- Make sure the gradient menu has the following settings.  5- Then making sure layer 2 is selected press the following button. This is the Layer mask 
This will add a layer mask to your layer then making sure layer 2 is still selected draw a gradient on your picture from left to right. This may take a bit of practice to figure out the exact place to draw the gradient.  6- Now you have your basic blend its time to add the extras. I merged the two layers together.I then duplicated the layer and set it to Linear Dodge. I then merged the two layers together and duplicated that. I used the gaussian blur fliter set at 2.5 and set that layer to darken to give a drawn effect. I then added a new layer and used some paint brushes.
